TTB Public Registry has been a good source of information regarding the upcoming new spirits. It should also not be forgotten that there are always possibilities the whisky or any other spirit, even with label approval, may not make it to the market for any reason. Until we receive an official statement from the distillery itself, everything we discuss here should be treated as buzz…
Laphroaig 10 Original Cask Strength Batch 010
‘Emphatic, full-bodied and utterly unforgettable. 10 Year Old Original Cask Strength Laphroaig is the authentic way to experience the rugged character of our uncompromising Scotch Whisky. It is an Islay single malt that is barrier filtered only and bottled at natural Cask Strength. This gives a genuine tasting and texture normally associated with sampling a whisky at its source.
We recommend that you add twice as much water as whisky to fully appreciate the taste characteristics of Original Cask Strength Laphroaig Whisky at cask strength may overpower the palate, but adding water will release a rich aroma of peat smoke with some sweetness and strong hints of the sea.’
Laphroaig 28 Year Old
‘This exceptional expression has been matured for 28 years in a suite of artfully selected casks. First, in different sizes from quarter casks to butts before being married in sherry casks to age for its final 12 months.
A coppery gold Laphroaig with a taste that is sweet, complemented by peppery spices and finishes with a lingering peaty flavour and touch of iodine and seaweed, reminiscent of its maritime origin. An exquisite dram you will find aged to a spirited elegance.’
Laphroaig Cairdeas Fino Cask Finish
‘Each year our Distillery Manager, John Campbell crafts a limited edition malt to celebrate the Friend of Laphroaig and friendship (“Cairdeas” in Gaelic)
Cairdeas 2018 showcases a special double maturation in first fill ex-bourbon casks then Fino Sherry casks. These special casks have been carefully matured between Warehouses 8 and 10. Notes of toasted almond, dried fruit and sea salt perfectly complement Laphroaig’s signature peatiness.
Barrier filtered, not chill filtered, the result is a unique expression to be savoured by Friend of Laphroaig, old and new’
